Emmy, I guess you mistook Liu Dekai (Luu Duc Khai) with Damian Lau (Luu Tung Nhan)! Yup, the 3rd wife got killed in the end, and the 4th wife (played by Idy in the 1992 version) witnessed the 3rd’s body being thrown into the pond, she got insane 🙁 But according to that version, the 3rd mistress seemed to be the nicest. I never like this story anyway, it’s only because of Idy was in it and playing the main character.

My two-pence worth of nonsensical opinion? Idy simply got an aura and the look that just don’t feel right if she continued living in Hongkong as an actress. Such a realistic, competitive, and often-times bitter world as Hongkong, I rather prefer her seemingly docile and casual style not being in the prime spotlight. There’s grace in that!

Did she play the 4th mistress in RLHH years ago, and that why she knew Damian Lau from that series. I remember her role was very sad as the 4th mistress and she lost her memory at the end. The 3rd role would be more excited for her, but again, the character will be killed by her husband at the end 🙁

I noticed that the episode 5 for Catch Me Now in English subtitle has an error on the dialogue storyline at www.aznv.tv. Someone has interrupted it wrong with the storyline.

Here is the wrong dialogue storyline:

    1. Jack and me? When I did I date him?

Corrected dialogue is: Jack and me? When did I date him?

    2. He lets the flat to me a low rent.

Corrected dialogue is: He lends the flat to me as a low rent.

    3. Why do you talk in the way as if it’s true?

Corrected dialogue is: Why do you talk this way as if it’s true?

    4. He must get a hidden agenda.

I agree with all you said, it’d be nice if they didn’t zoom out that last second of heartbreaking scene of just herself, it’d leave the audience to guess or have hope that Jack didn’t really die and that she was looking at him, just like in the alternate ending.

Good to see that the ratings weren’t bad; I’m a little disappointed that D.I.E still rated higher as I enjoyed ‘Catch’ much more.

It’s ironic that everybody was disappointed by Idy whereas I was quite impressed and became abit of a fan (and I do fall under the category of ‘young viewer’, as I wasn’t born when Condor was aired).

The ending of Catch is memorable yes, but very sad – especially for Idy’s character, as she had done no wrong throughout the series and deserved a happy ending. That last scene where they panned out and you saw her sitting on the dock by herself is heartbreaking. I’ve gone back to watch it a few times and everytime I’ve had to watch the ‘alternate’ ending as well to cheer myself up!

I’m enjoying your blogging, keep it up 😉

The audiences must be blinded to accuse Idy ‘fat’. Due to her age, she lơ0ks more than ‘perfect’ for me. Off course, I still adjust to her ‘silly’ housewife role 🙂 and her voice was little deep, but so what, everyone has their own style. I am glad she keep her play. I also wish she should be relax a little bit about the romane. Damian and Idy were tense around each other a bit. If Idy let him hold her hand, it would be perfect couple and series.

now i really understand Idy’s response about not wanting to be referred to as Little Dragon Girl all the time. people really should stop thinking that Idy and LDG are one person. it’s not her obligation to maintain that image all her life. i havent watched the series but saw the clips. i thought she really looks fine, except for her hair. there’s nothing wrong with it but it makes her face look even rounder.

usually people are nostalgic & i’m one of them, half of the time ^__^ however, we also need to live in the present and accept that things changes and people do age. ask those people to share their pictures 20 years ago, see how well they’ve maintained.

it’ll be nice to see the veterans returning to the screen. Jamie is a nice choice.

late scripts, this happened during the filming of At the Threshold of an Era as well. they constantly changed the stories so artists only received their scripts at the last minutes. this is tough!

like Idy, my vote goes to Michelle Mei Suet. however, she has a slim chance of winning, if not at all. Lee Si Kei is a fine choice. despites Heart of Greed’s popularity, i feel that the villainous character of Mei Suet in The Brink of Law deserves the award more than anyone.

  • From Anonymous on 2007.10.11 Idy Chan & Damian Lau have some disagreement?

dun worry Damian & Idy has no big disagreement in filming. It’s just that Daimian believes he can convince
Idy to film intimacy scenes if the plot required. But Idy firmly sticks to her mind that NO intimacy scenes for her. Let’s see who will win at the end hehe.

BTW, Daimian praised Idy’s acting skill is still there though she didn’t film for 14 years. “I had thought she would need some times to pick up acting but instead she didn’t ng much. Maybe she got a well preparation and let out all her emotion for not shooting in these 14 years.”

From the original article, Hacken did audition for the role of Kwok Jing. But he didn’t get it since the producer chose Chilam over. Just can’t image how he looks like in ancient costumes. Had he ever played one? kit

  • From Michelle on 2007.10.14 Idy Chan presented flowers to Jin Yong

i have read somewhere before that Hacken was supposed to play some ancient role, & after seeing himself in the costumes, he realized that they look not too good on him, so he withdrew from the role. however, i didnt know the role was Kwok Jing. i’m so glad he turned it down. Hacken should stick with modern looks.

Haha! In case you didn’t know, TVBSquare.com shared the secrets how to get inside TVB City in one of his/her HK trip blog entries. Email me for the exact link. If I have extra time in HK, I would try to make a trip to TVB City just to see the “outside” of it. We’ll see!

Damian Lau is so sweet to her!! I was in different about him. Now I like him. He sounds like a very sweet and caring person! I wonder if he will really pour tea and water for Idy during filming. Does anyone know if he and Idy will be paired up in the series? I don’t see anything wrong in filming love conversations. Oh well, that’s Idy’s choice.

LOL michelle, I was exactly thinking the same thing you were about Idy being the only one getting to sit on a chair and the attention is focused on her.

She seems to have lost weight compared to the other pics, probably because the way she dresses makes her look younger…She looks elegant, except for her hair. Somehow, it looks awkward.

Anyway, still very excited about her series and hope that it’ll have high ratings and help her w/ her career. Hope she films for series after this one. Aww…I’m so greedy… lol

Aww…that is so cute how Damien says that he’ll act for this series just because of Idy!!!! Also, yes I agree that Damien looks refreshing in that pic. Lately, I was watching his series The Drive of Life and indeed he does seems to age and he has wrinkles..but he looks fine in that pic. 🙂

hahaha, she’s the only who gets to sit on a chair. it looks like all the attention is on her, which is good.

btw, this is a much better hairstyle. she looks a lot younger. it must be a wig then, since her hair is short?

it’s so nice of Damian to say such nice things about Idy. hope this comeback can revive her career.

yah, since Idy has decided to get out of her Gumu, the chance of her & Kenix in a picture is possible. & so is her & Aaron.

it’s sad for me to know that when Idy decides to come back to TVB, Kenix already left. just like when Idy “retired” in 93, Kenix entered the industry.

I LOVE Idy’s reference to ROCH. It’s so sweet of her to say that it feels like she is coming back out to meet YG after 16 years. It’s really a weird coincidence. As much as it seems like Idy does not like to be associated with SLL, ROCH seems to take a big part in her heart.

  • From Anonymous on 2007.09.18 Idy Chan is guest judge @ "舞動奇跡 Strictly Come Dancing"

I heard of this tv programme which jointly held by TVB and Hunan TV station. But it doesn’t air in the local channel (at least not the free tv channel as I know so far) so I didn’t watch it. Just great to know that Idy was invited to sit in the judge panel. I think she is still popular in China, huh? I hope someone will record it and post it on the net.

btw, Erin your translation is all correct and from what I read from the Chinese version, yours is more detailed. I don’t know this programme is copied from the UK one 😮

  • From Michelle on 2007.09.09 Fala Chen expresses anticipation working with Idy Chan

really? i always thought Damian is younger than Adam, cuz he looks younger. if they’re at the same age, then Adam ages better but Damian still looks younger to me.

about Joe, i got negative impression of him from watching his villain roles. i think i 1st saw him in Kindred Spirits, in which he was a player. he was married, but still lied to Kenix to fool her. his most unforgettable performance, to me, gotta be his role in At the Threshold of an Era. gosh, he was so convincing that i cant bring myself to like the actor. he’s an excellent actor, that i must admit, but still, his character Yip Wing Jun still leaves a deep negative impression on me.

i actually hope that Idy could pair up with Michael Miu; Adam is a good choice as well. however, i’m glad she could work with Damian. i havent seen them collaborate before so this should be refreshing. she had worked with Adam several times so i dont anticipate them as much.
