2012-10-17 Idy Chan attended some event in Shenzhen with Lawrence Ng 吳啟華. Only found few blurry photos on Weibo, and heard that Idy even performed a song on stage, and it’s Teresa Teng’s 鄧麗君 trademark song “The Moon Represents My Heart 月亮代表我的心”.

Thanks JC for the clearer photos.

Idy Chan along with Joe Ma were in Taipei yesterday [Dec 8th] to promote the showing to “Catch Me Now” on Taiwan’s TVBS-G. Living up to her “Little Dragon Girl or SLL” nickname, Idy appeared simple and beautiful still, she acknowledged to Jin Yong’s comment on how she’s similar to SLL the most, that she’s active in helping the elders, mentally disordered children, martial arts excercising, mediation, living in seclusion, and volunteering in many charity organizations throughout US, Canada, and China. She even spent a month in Sichuan for Earthquake victims.

Joe Ma expressed “Seeing her is like a child seeing his teacher, I’m very honored to work with her.” Since Idy is being called as “Lin Mui”, at first Joe planned to address her as “Lin Je” but he feared it’s like calling her “old”. Joe said “Later when I hear everyone else calls ‘Lin Mui’, I’m no longer afraid. ” Joe’s looking forward to enjoy the local good food while in Taiwan.

Idy also expressed that she wants to do a documentary on Buddhism.

Today marks the 25th year anniversary of TVB Classic “The Return of Condor Heroes (ROCH)” starring Idy Chan & Andy Lau. On this very day October 31, 25 years ago in 1983, ROCH was officially aired on TVB and even though I didn’t get to see it until a few year later, after almost 20 years, this TV series remains fresh in my heart. I’m posting some old photos of the beautiful pair Idy Chan & Andy Lau during that time. I’m feeling nostalgic…

Newsbits:

  • TVB will celebrate its 41st Anniversary next month. The Anniversary Awards Ceremony will be on November 15, 2008.
  • “Catch Me Now” is nominated in “Best Drama” category, Damian Lau is nominated in “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for his role as Ko Chit (Jack), Johnson Lee is nominated in “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” for his role as Tam Ben (BT), and Sharon Chan is nominated in “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” for her role as Kong Kiu. [Of course, no nominations for Idy, sad for 5 sec. haha]
  • Idy Chan as a cameo in Ann Hui’s “The Way We Are” is now available on DVD @YesAsia.

Just a few days ago, I received an email from this film producer/director/consultant asking for Idy Chan’s representatives. At first, I thought it was one of the million spams that supposed to go into my “Spam” folder everyday. Then I googled the name of this producer, it’s so surprising that s/he is credited in many television works in the States and Canada. So I quickly replied back that I’m simply just a fan. The person replied me back within minutes asking if I would happen to know the name of Idy’s manager/agent, and once again, I disappointed the filmaker’s arguably genuine request. Click Here to see the content of the email as the proof.

Certainly that Idy isn’t in high demand in HK showbiz anymore and especially with her brief comeback for TVB’s “Catch Me Now” and cameo in Ann Hui’s docudrama “The Way We Are”, she received heavy and unwarrantable criticism from media, audience, and even her own fans. But what surprised me, that there’s still random filmakers out there are still interest in her. Of course, I wouldn’t know for sure if the true intention of this filmaker looking for Idy, but I bet anyone would quickly guess that the email is asking for her to offer a role… right?

Anyways, if Damian Lau didn’t meet Idy when filming in Vancouver, and if Idy wasn’t there at that very moment, we could never get to see her on screen again, the world would be completely out of touch with her. And that’s how I feel now since she disappeared after CMN to live her quiet humble life.

I know there’s people who haven’t watched nor finished watching “Catch…”, but this entry is like a cure for those who are suffering “CMN withdrawal” …like me. Hope you enjoy this amateur video (contains spoilers!) that I spent so many hours creating it. Let me know what you think, thanks!

Go HERE for information on the song and English translation of the lyrics, one of my favorite songs by Jacky Cheung. It just fits the relationship of Jack & Yung so well 😉

The good quality video for Special Alternate Ending – The Undead Legend is available for download @this Megaupload link.

A deleted scene discovered @lauchungyan.com. I believe that there’s many many more but most of the time TVB doesn’t include behind-the-scenes, the making of, special features, etc. in their DVDs, unless they’re deluxe, limited, or whatever else editions.

TVB Classic channel has been airing the 68-episode “This Land Is Mine 風雲” since April 28 (to July 28). This is the series in which young Damian was already the leading man paired with Fung Bobo, while young Idy only played a supporting role paired up with young Kent Tong [see clip below], Simon Yam, George Lam are also in this series.
