[Special Thanks to Kit for providing the clip! Idy were beautiful here. Besides Idy, I read that Ray Lui 呂良偉 and Kathy Chow 周海媚 were also the among the veterans who have recently re-associated with TVB and appeared as presenters at this awards show. Most of TVB 40th Anniversary shows and specials happened during the first week in I were in Hong Kong. But too bad that I had to attend Aaron Kwok 郭富城 shows and I was dosing off at most of his shows [5 shows]. Fans in HK are very aggressive and nuts! Anyway, Ray Lui went with his wife and kid to one of Aaron’s shows, but I was only able to get a glimpse of him after the concert. Wish I could watch this TVB Awards LIVE, just want to see Idy and other favorite veterans. Mr. Andy Lau 劉德華‘s billboards and ads are everywhere in HK, he’s still popular and looking handsome! I watched a few new TVB series while in HK, but there’s so many new faces and most of them are… ugly and most of the series suck (pardon my language)!]

artistes blogs, catch me now
[Linda Chung 鍾嘉欣‘s blog @ TVB] The other night at the company’s [TVB] canteen, I bumped into Idy Chan 陳玉蓮. She’s at the company that day to film “Catch Me Now 盜亦有道”, what a pity that I don’t have a role in it, no opportunity to learn from her. As I’ve always like her, this is the rare chance that I bumped into her, I invited her to eat together, unexpected she accepted, I’m so happy. We chatted about anything and everything. Never cross my mind that she’s noticed me and seen my work and expressed that she likes my performance in “Best Bet 迎妻接福”. Wah, I’m so very happy to receive her praise.

[by Kit] The news mainly focuses on Fala Chen. It said that when she was filming together with Idy for “Catch Me Now 盜亦有道”, she apple-polished Idy alot, like help checking her make-up & hairdo, pay keen attention to what Idy was talking to her etc.

catch me now
[I took the photo for this page straight from TVB Weekly #542 – Special Issue for 40th Anniversary. I bought the magazine at an 7-11 store just a few blocks from my hotel. Besides the bottled green tea, this was actually the first thing I bought in HK and it’s amazing to be out on the streets in Hong Kong at 2-3am in the morning. Here in the States, just home and office, how boring!]

[Translated by Kit] Idy Chan 陳玉蓮 returned to the showbiz and has been busy shooting for TVB series “Thieves With Principles (lit.) 盜亦有道” over a month. She said she was quite surprised by the late release of the scripts and that the situation was very bad indeed. Good thing is that Damian Lau 劉松仁 has taken good care of her and the two enjoyed the filming very much thus she didn’t have any regrets of coming back.
Idy and Damian shot outdoor at St. Stephen Bay a day before. It seemed that they hit it off quite well and often paid for each other’s coffee. Damian said jokingly, “Women are born to be treated well” so they were happy to be working together. When asked if Idy had gotten used of filming. She chuckled, “Till this moment, we always received the scripts on the set in the last minute. I haven’t thought the situation was this bad. We even don’t know what to shoot next so how can we act and link the scenes together? And it’s difficult for us to arrange the clothes in order to make the shots consistent. (Have you regretted of the return?) No. But just didn’t expect something like this.”
Vote for Lee Si Kei 李司棋 and Michelle Yim 米雪 in the TVB anniversary
Since the plot is not consistent there are at least 3 scenes needed re-shooting. Idy and Damian has often changed scripts to fit their roles. Had she spoken to the producer? Idy grinned, “I’d asked Damian if it was the working pattern nowadays and he just told me stop questioning. He did speak to the producer but now he would say nothing and just sits aside. Anyway, some movements & scripts are impossible to fulfill as required by the plot. But I don’t need to speak it out since Damian will do it for me so I feel comfortable.”
Idy will be showed up as a guest to present the award of “Most Favorite TV Female Character” in the coming TVB anniversary. She said she was not familiar to the current female’s artists so she will vote for Si Kei and Michelle.
[Thanks to Kit for the translation! Last-minute/on-the-fly scripts are probably a new trend in filming industry. Good to see that Damian is there to take care problems for Idy & they get along well. Haha, veterans like to work with veterans and happen to see more veteran faces these days in the news.
Ray Lui 呂良偉 appeared on Stephen Chan’s Be My Guest 志雲飯局 & expressed that he’s interested in working with veterans like Damian Lau, Ha Yu 夏雨, Lee Si Kei and Roger Kwok 郭晉安, read full news here. And it seems that Mrs. Micheal Miu 苗僑偉, Jamie Chik 戚美珍, would be officially returning to the showbiz anytime now, she’s working on some performance for The Return of Enjoy Yourself Tonight [EYT] 再會歡樂今宵, read more here.]

[These clips are really one-of-a-kinds. It’s so funny how Idy started answering “half and half” for questions via voice distorting microphone and Andy played along. Very cute.]

[It’s interesting that Alfred Cheung 張堅庭 queried Idy about her life majority of the time in this episode. They mentioned they did work together before, that is Alfred directed a movie in which Idy and Simon Yam 任達華 were in. Anyways, I still don’t understand how this game played, perhaps I need to catch an episode of US version on NBC to get an idea of the game.]
[TVB’s Deal or No Deal] [Nov 4th] Idy Chan 陳玉蓮 appeared as the contestant on episode 27 [of Season 2 or episode 2 of Season 3] at Hong Kong TVB version 一擲千金 Deal or No Deal. She won the deal of HK$44,000 (~ US$5660).
[Download raw RMVB via BT here. I watched the “moment” clip on TVB website and not sure when this episode was filmed or it’s a live episode, but Idy’s voice was still hoarse and she spoke at low pitch. I just hope Thieves With Principles 盜亦有道 wouldn’t be her first and last TV series for her comeback, because its filming seems to take a toll on her. I’m kinda aware of the US American version of Deal and No Deal, but never actually see it so don’t really understand the game.]
