After finishing reporting from Yushu earthquake struck area, reporter came to Qinghai–Tibet Autonomous Region to meet up with Idy Chan for an interview. Idy along with 4 others drove directly from Guangzhou with one main purpose: charity. For the past decade, Idy and entourage have been involved in spontaneous work of going to remote areas to help poor people. Their main goal is helping local children with food, clothes and shelter, so driving is the most convenient way to go directly to the locations.

Next stop will be Tibet, then Xinjiang, there they’ll need to 1000 jackets for the children at orphanages. Then Shaanxi, Shanxi, and then will return to “camp” in Guangzhou around Oct or Nov. It’s almost the same over the past few years, they set out the mission in Spring because the roads would be safer and return home in the Fall because of colder weather.

Idy Chan expressed that she has changed a lot from doing charity over the years and able to “let go of myself”; very content and gaining a lot of perspective on life.

According to Weibo, the premiere date to air “Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles” is Oct 22.

With Idy takes break from her work during the fall and winter months, hopefully we’ll get to see her involved more in events for the new drama this time. Let’s hope….
